Whether you need a few festive touches for your home or for your office, it’s easy to create a warm and wonderful Thanksgiving setting in any space. Nature provides much of what you need. Just add some creativity, and maybe a little paint or glue, and it’s all good.
These simple DIY projects will get you started:
Keep it Light
Hollow out some miniature pumpkins and place small votive candle holders inside. Place tea lights in each one. Other fun lighting ideas include filling votive holders or jars part way with popcorn kernels and then adding a candle. Tie a bit of raffia around the outside of the candle holder and you’ve got instant autumn charm.
Keep it Real
With all the focus on using natural elements for DIY projects these days, you might as well get in on the action too. Collect pine cones, pretty fall leaves, and twigs to use as décor. Clean them gently before use and allow them to dry. To keep leaves from getting too brittle, gently dab them with a bit of hand lotion or conditioner. Let it soak in, and then fill a basket or bowl with your favorites. Pine cones and twigs can be used the same way. For longer twigs and branches, use a vase.
Keep it Colorful
A monochromatic look can also be quite pleasing. Gather your goodies and paint them all the same color. Shiny gold pumpkins, pine cones, gourds, acorns, twigs, and berries, can be used to create a pretty topper for your dining table, coffee table, or console table. You could also paint everything white or creamy beige for a more elegant look.
Just keep it
You can re-purpose things you already have to create Thanksgiving decorations. Combine old and new to make great centerpieces and vignettes. A large, chunky, candle holder with a mini pumpkin on top can be the start of stylish vignette. Add a tall vase filled with twigs and branches, and beside it place a candy dish filled with acorns.
Sometimes, the simplest ideas can be the best DIY projects. Add some of these simple touches to create a festive holiday feeling in your home or office.
