Weddings are fun for a multitude of different reasons and one of them is the constant changing trends that they include. Everything from fashion to decor to theme evolves in the world of weddings, so if you and your significant other are planning your big day, you may want to check out the latest trends. Get a glimpse of six wedding trends to look out for in 2017.
Pink, Pink, Pink, And More Pink
We’re not talking about being utterly obnoxious and loud about pink, but definitely consider including it into your decor and color scheme. Soft pinks and blush tones are becoming wildly popular this year, because pink works with a variety of themes. Rustic, French country theme? Pink definitely goes along with that. A vintage hue in the wedding attire and setup? No problem! Pink works for that too! Blush rose, to be exact, is the trending “it” pink because it will remain timeless and versatile.
Romantic Blooms
There are certain flowers in particular, such as dahlias, garden roses, peonies, and any other “soft-petal” bloom, that will be big this year. Peonies have become so popular in fact, that many brides are timing their wedding to take place during peak peony season so they can be included in all of the bouquets, centerpieces, and other floral arrangements. All of these soft-petal, swoon-worthy flowers are the pinnacle of romance and thus are being included in more weddings. Another trend we are seeing is the use of rose petals scattered across table runners and paired with floating candles to really enhance the romantic feel.
Paper Following Fashion
We are seeing a trend in paper and stationery that mirrors the currents trends in fashion. Whatever is hot in 2017 fashion could end up being trends in stationery. The trends started popping up in bigger cities like New York City and Philadelphia and is now pouring into smaller regions as we begin the new year. For 2017 styles, that means that stationery with two different patterns (for example, mixing floral with stripes) will be the latest trend.
Custom-Designed Menus

More couples are using food as a medium to tell a story about their relationship. For example, you could use menu items that you enjoyed on your first date together or when you two fell in love. Then you can segway into other wedding menu options that reflect your favorite foods that you share together. Caterers are becoming more aware of this pattern and are working with wedding couples to create a custom menu that is more personalized than traditional.
Tall Cakes

In the last few years, items like cake pops, cupcakes, doughnuts, and pies were dominating the wedding dessert trends, but now we are seeing a shift back to tiered wedding cakes. Part of the reason that cakes tiered high are back in style is because they tout something nostalgic and timeless about them. The tall aspect of these cakes brings more interest to the dessert table overall and allows for artistic lenience. Tiered cakes can be decorated with jewels and enhanced with other creative features.
The After Party
For years, the cocktail hour before the official wedding reception has played such an integral part in the entire wedding day, but in 2017 you can expect to see more after-parties. Wedding venues are now creating reception areas that are featured more as lounges with seating vignettes set up closer to the dance floor. Couples are also interested in specific lighting styles to give the venue a more nightclub feel.
