While summer has long been known as wedding season, winter weddings have so much potential that summer weddings just can’t tap into. With the return of the colder weather, warmer food, darker colors and all around comforting atmosphere, there are so many trends that you can incorporate into your wedding to make it trendy, celebratory and comforting all at the same time, here are a few of our faves:

Neon Signs
Neon signs are not only a fashion trend but also a great statement piece for your winter wedding. They are so easy, fun and completely customizable. You can decide what font, size, color and wording you want which makes it so special to keep even after your wedding! A fun way to use these is to display them in front of greenery as a backdrop for your wedding cake or stage. You can also place string lights around them to get that bright Christmas appeal to your ceremony or reception.

Drip Cakes
There is always some sort of trend going on with wedding cakes, and this winter it is the beautiful and elegant drip technique. From slight gold accent drips to covering half the cake with silver icing, this is one trend that you are sure to see in some form this winter. In addition to gold and silver that are more likely to be seen in weddings, you can also incorporate your wedding colors to give it a slight pop as opposed to washed out metallics.

Velvet
I’ll admit velvet is always a winter wedding trend, but there is definitely a reason why. From small accents to bridesmaids dresses, velvet is a stunning addition to any wedding but really works well in the wintertime. Not only is it elegant and warming, but the sparkle and richness of the colors enhanced by velvet make it a trend worth noting every winter. It also pairs very well with dark reds found in roses making it the perfect fabric for a Christmas wedding.

Deep colors
From magenta to dark green and deep red, winter color pallets are warm and comforting in all areas including weddings. This seasons deep colors are bright but deep and pair perfectly with greenery and any neutral colored flowers. You can incorporate these colors anywhere in your wedding from bouquets to bridesmaids dresses to centerpieces and in as many different shades as possible.

Comfort Food
‘Tis the season of Thanksgiving feasts and cinnamon-flavored everything so comfort food wedding style is perfect for a winter wedding. If you are serving a full meal, opting for something along the lines of mac-n-cheese, mashed potatoes, casseroles or the legendary turkey dinner is sure to appeal to every guest. If you are doing more hors d’oeuvres, gingerbread cookies, chocolate covered berries or any other indulgent holiday dessert will add the perfect touch of warm and comforting to your wedding.
